I'm sure I can't stump anyone here but allow me to try.

Any idea if this is in any catalog (and which) plus is it worth anything other than as a possible novelty?

It is a Hotel label. These can be very collectable.

Holy crap! Just checked and it is still in business. 5 star and pricey! Wonder if they'd be interested in buying it? (yeah, right!)

I've been to that hotel! 1998. Not to stay, I hasten to add, but they are famed for their Afternoon Teas. Also I wasn't paying, as I recall...

Yes, that is a hotel stamp.

My understanding is that Europe was more prevalent producing these for hotels there. The most were from either Switzerland or France but other countries did this as well. I think this is my first hotel stamp I have seen from the Asian area.

Why do I love the internet? Because of this: I was just watching a You Tube video of a 24 cylinder nitrous-boosted supercharged diesel. The article mentioned the owner of this motor also owning a Rolls-Royce with a Merlin aircraft engine (which I couldn't see because something was wrong with the video) .... BUT ... that video had a link towards the bottom that mentioned another Rolls Royce owned by the ..... Peninsula Hotels of Hong Kong!

Only $760 a night for a suite. That doesn't include package deals. ;o)

Very impressed with the quality of the stamp. Most hotel stamps that I have seen are of far inferior quality. The example below is very typical of what I have seen.

What would a stamp like that have been used for?

What usage would justify a full-scale philatelic production like that???

Possibly printer propaganda,
De La Rue etc, to showcase their print production abilities.
Supplied at an exhibition of some sort.
