Curious imagery. In the back it looks like a woman is kneading dough perhaps. The contraption in the background looks like it could be a primitive mill? I like the imposition of colonial iconography on what would otherwise be, broadly speaking, a culturally homologous document (I am referring to the holly leaves and berries in the margin).

Smauggie, I think that is is a water well in the back. They did not add the year until 1942, simply "FIRST YEAR".

I like the pull toys too, a tiger and a horse maybe.

I had a pull toy wooden horse on wheels when I was a young lad. When I saw it years later it looked like I had pulled it along through the dirt. I probably looked just as dirty too after playing.
