I've been going through some overprints from Peru. This set has caused me some confusion. I collect both the unoverprinted and overprinted stamp together but can't tell what some of the stamps were before the overprint.
To confuse matters, the same overprint seems to appear on different stamps.
The stamps are from 1975.

As far as I can tell, the unoverprinted stamps are as follows:

Row 1: S3.80
Row 2: S4.30 No idea about stamp 4
Row 3: Stamp 2 looks like S4.30. Stamp 3 looks like S4.80. No idea about the other two.
Row 4: S4.60
Row 5: S4.60
Row 6: no idea, but not S4.60

Hello Peterethio

If you check the Scott's Catalogue after #C115 - 22, there is a note there describing all the stamps that were surchared from that set.

The 4.60 stamp w/o the surcharge is Scott # C211.

This should be able to help you.

Sorry but I don't have access to a Scott catalogue. We tend to use Gibbons here on Oz. Can anyone please send the information?

Hi peterethio,

In my SG 1980 Part 20 these Peruvian stamps are listed as SG numbers 1261 to 1299. This should be all of the overprints.

For the ones not overprinted, look at the imprint at the bottomof the stamp:

Thomas De La Rue & Co. 4.30 orange SG 878
INA 4.60 orange SG 928
