Catching up with this thread. Seeing George socked on the eye reminded me of Adolph with a black eye. I posted this eight years ago, but we have a number of new faces, so... Here is a 25pf with a pretty good strike from Hohenlimburg (population 12,790 in 1905 according to Wikipedia). I can't quite make out the date, though. |

This thread needs a bump. Victor Harbor, South Australia: and a Bimini strike on Bahamas Sc73, 82 years ago tomorrow: (Zeppelin fans might recognize 4 March 1936 as the first flight of the Hindenburg.) |

Here is an experimental vending machine stamp with CDS cancel. The 2 large holes were added to a Scott 131 coil stamp in an effort to prevent machine jamming. The test was conducted, in Toronto, for 2 days in July 1918 and was deemed a failure. |

Here is a bold, but not quite SOTN cancel of Glittre Sanatorium. The institution was opened in 1925 as a major sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis. Today it is continuing under the name "Glittreklinikken" as a specialist hospital for pulmonary diseases. Information is courtesy of Wikipedia. Stamp is from cheap kiloware. |
