As Johan pointed out, the B and the R are there, but faint, likely caused by a void in the envelope (empty space alongside the contents) as the outer circle is also broken in that area. |

Can anyone provide a background of the cancellation on this Brazilian stamp, Sc. 671, issued in 1947 to commemorate the visit of President Gonzalez Videla of Chile. Is this bullseye a real postmark or is it printed on the stamp. I have never seen a cancel on a Brazilian stamp as clean or clear as this one. Scott mentions a souvenir sheet of this stamp, but does not indicate a special cancel applied or printed on the stamp. Don |

It doesn't appear to be a "printed on" cancel. Postal agencies generally take more care with these special event cancels, so they are typically sharp and clear. |

This 2002 Greek computer-vended stamp (Mi. #20) bears the cancel of Kerkyra. English speakers would call this Corfu. Kerkyra/Corfu is the name of the island off the northwest coast of Greece, and it is also the name of the largest town on the island. The UK's Prince Philip was born in Kerkyra town, but was exiled from Greece as an infant. |
