The office had only the one post marker and California Town Postmarks 1850 -1935 lists Mar 24,1900 to Jan 7,1903 as usage dates.

1891 - Rivière Des Anguilles, Mauritius (34) to Port Louis, Mauritius




The 34 numeral post mark covering Queen Victoria was assigned to the village of Rivière Des Anguilles, When the letter arrived in the capital, Port Louis, the Mauritius date stamp was applied.

Four today.

Maple Creek, this is an un-reported postmark.
It measures 28.5 mm across the CDS and 6L (distance from first letter of town to first latter of state in mm)

Here is the listing for Maple Creek in California Town Postmarks 1850 -1935 as you can see Williams and the Western Cover Society provided for this sort of occurrence, each postmark skips 10 numbers to allow for new discoveries.



There is an 11 year gap in recorded postmarks between Hum-3590 and Hum-3600, and the unreported CDS falls into that gap, both size wise and date, so I refer to this postmark as Hum-3595.

Inglenook's postmaster, Henty Lockheart used his town & postmaster marker to postmark today's cover, and because he did, there is now a latest known use for this postmark.
California Town Postmarks 1850 -1935 didn't find an LKU when John H. Williams and the Western cover society compiled the listing for the book.

As you can see Men-1780 does not list an LKU. But the cover below provides a Mar 26, 1883 strike that will work just fine.

Edit to add; The last three days have been noteworthy for my collection of Redwood Empire postmarks. On the 24th, I posted a reported EKU, on the 25th, I posted an un-reported postmark, and today a scarce town and postmaster LKU.

The Royal Australian Air Force had their own post office on the island in 1952.

Just enough of the 8 in 98 to identify the year. 3's tend to have a straight line at the top of number eliminating 93 as the year the cover was mailed.

Mendocino, an early one. California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 lists this postmark as MEN-2310 and indicates that it is Mendocino's first postmark. It's not. On Feb 17th, I posted a Mendocino cover that is earlier.

Can't find a year date on this cover, but CTP 1850 -1935 gives us Sep 12,1861 and Mar 29 1862 as usage dates.

Southern Pacific RPO. Ok, this doesn't really fit in, but I found that N. Pacific RPO datelined Dec 11, 1874 (posted here)

Salsig, Opened Nov 28 1904, name changed to Manzanita Sep 1912. Salsig had three postmarks, the first one (this one) has a recorded use from Aug 11, 1908 to May 13 , 1912. Mine is earlier!

This choice of covers is a follow up to my Aden post of March 31, the last day of Indian postage stamps in Aden. On April 1, the first postage stamps of the colony were issued.

It is summertime in the Philippines and school is out., I am headed to the family farm in the mountains of Mindanao. I anticipate returning to posting towards the end of June.

I enjoy posting here and I especially appreciate the display of early California covers that I have seen. Thanks to all participating.
