Good morning, six for today.

Noyo,
the cover below was in a balance lot in Schuyler Rumsey's Dec 2002 sale 14, a part of the "Tahoe collection" not seen in 30+ years as was the Feb 17 Mendocino cover. Neither of them where reported to John H. Williams and the Western Cover Society during their search for California Town Postmarks.

Noyo was opened May 20,1872 and closed Jan 31,1918. California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 received only one response for a manuscript postmark, a late usage, as seen below. I've cropped the page to show just the first four postmarks.



I think this cover shows that Men-2730 and Men-2740 should trade positions and is the earliest Noyo postmark.



Westport, their second fancy, a large 3 ring oval, CTP 1850 - 1935 records a Dec 13,1884 EKU and shows an illustration of a Jul 11, 1887 LKU.

Oh, I know the name of the sender because I have 50 postcards from this family. And five of the 10 Salsig postmarks I have are from Clyde.

This is the RPO postmark that started me collecting RPOs. I mis-identified the train line in a post and was corrected. So, I decided to learn more about Northern California RPOs. There's only one, Northwestern Pacific, but it is the combination of eight different rail lines. It is also another of the 50 postcards I bought from the granddaughter of the Elgin/Boyd family. Like the Ferndale card I posted yesterday. The only drawback is the one of the family collected stamps, so some are missing, like this one. By the way, my previous post was another cropped postmark.
