Really like that cover, odd that it was directed "Via Trinidad", confused the USPOD too, they sent it thru Arcata. Reminds me of the Cape Mendocino Light cover I posted last Oct 3, mis-sent by USPOD to Mendocino City rather than to Humboldt as directed. It's here.

Willits, this CDS is the second Willits postmark (of ten, 1874 to 1935). California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 numbers it as Men-4090 and records usage from Feb 12,1878 to Feb 18, 1879.
If there was somewhere to report new findings, I'd report the cover below and the Nov 30, 1877 cover I posted last Nov 30th.
Since California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 was copyrighted by the Western Cover Society, I pestered the editors once every quarter offering up-dated postmark use dates. Gave up after 5 years, so I have 92 new EKUs, 88 new LKUs, and 31 un-reported postmarks.

Thanks for posting that facebook page redwoodrandy. Would like to have several of those cards. Love the bears on the Klamath River Bridge. That is the old Redwood Highway bridge. Of course, there is a new bridge after the 1964 flood, but they moved the bears from the old bridge to the new! Just about the only thing left after the flood!
Really like the Yager manuscript postmark on the postal card.

Trinidad, I posted the view side on 1/21/2017 as it shows the town of Bulwinkle, the card mailed about two weeks before Bulwinkle was opened (May 7, 1909), and it's situated on Humboldt's Little River. I'll show it again.

There is a large group of people who now have access Northwest Pacific's right of way and are opening the Redwood Trail, a 300-mile hiking trail from San Francisco to Arcata. A section seventeen miles long is already open. Arcata past Eureka. You can find Redwood Trail videos on You-tube for more information.

Here is the Great Redwood Trail that I saw. They say 20 years until completion. Although a rafting trip is shown on the video's cover, most of the Eel is a dangerous trip, an E ticket ride!
