Let's put some new life into this thread. Used today, 26th Philatelic Exhibition in Sant Feliu de Llobregat (10 km south of Barcelona).
Personalized stamp and postmark, showing the "Masia de la Salut". Masia is Catalan for traditional country house (from the Latin "mansio").

Edwin should have written a letter to his mom like his mom suggested and not put his note on a card for everyone to read.

Now he has to put up with the same happening to him, but worse, for everyone to read. Serves him right too.

Happy Mother's Day (in case I missed it)!

The Postage Stamp Centenary FDC prompted me to post this interesting statistic about the millions of dollars the US Post Office Department raised by selling stamps at CIPEX. I don't know the USPS today is so open with releasing such sales figures, but if they raised that much money in 1947, one can only imagine what they raise today given the glut of new issues that hit the market almost weekly:

Note that even back in 1947, the US Post Office was pointing out the fact that most of the sales were clear profit since the majority of stamps were purchased by collectors and that they would not see actual postal use.

Citizens' Military Training Camp was started after WWI as a readiness effort in case the US would get involved in another war. It was summer camp for patriotic young men. It lasted through the 1920s and 1930s, with peak involvement aroung 1929.

Elizabeth went to St Cloud Teachers College and stayed in the Shoemaker Hall dormatory.

Shoemaker Hall was expanded in 1974 and is still in use.

St Cloud State University is a part of the University of Minnesota network of schools. My brother and his wife went to St Cloud State. In those days it was well known to be a 'party school'.

I know I'm a couple of hours early for this one, but kehess's United States Postage Stamp Centenary cover is so nice, I had to post it's brother. Exactly two days later.
May 19.

edit - kehess, I noticed both envelopes must have used the same stamp cancel, as they have the exact same idiosyncrasies, such as the second 0 in 10:00 is slightly raisd, while the 47 in 1947 is slightly lower than the 19. Of course they may have had only one stamper on duty at the exhibition, but after over 60 years it's kind of neat to see these together. Just doing a little of my own flyspecking, I guess.

My birthday is May 20th, 1980. Anyone got any with that specific date, or at least the month and day?

I definitely have one cancelled on May 20 but I'd have to check to see if there's one from 1980.

That is great, I wish I could find one of those just like that. Or even better, with a SOTN, lol.
