Two for October 12th -- one in 1903 from Morristown, TN and the other a FDOI from Washington, DC in 1943.

That October 13, 1895 postmark from Boston, MA has to be something of a record. I don't recall too many CDS that have that many characters defining the post office name, which I believe is "Boston South End A(nnex), Mass. 1895"

I think it's hilarious that the postal service chose a mid-continent city for first day of issue on seafaring. I grew up in the Minneapolis/ St. Paul MN area and I didn't see an ocean until I was an adult!

The article at the link explains the connection. A Norwegian sloop is depicted by the cachet, Minneapolis was an area of Norwegian settlement, and Norwegian King Olav V happened to be visiting the area at the time of issuance.
