I have not yet seen one of these

This may sound like a silly question but were they actually used as stamps (I'm guessing not)

Hi Dianne....

These US foils are not real stamps.

There have been several countries that have produced foil stamps, Bhutan & Tonga come to mind and I'm sure there are others. Bhutan even has a few round ones that are also recordings that can actually be played.

Tom, you are correct in regards to gold foil "stamps" from the US not being real. Those fall under the category of collectibles made for unsuspecting buyers. The one I have shown above is from Gabon and is a true stamp issue. Mike in NYC / meostamps
