Rodney, my memory has been rendered unreliable by old age, rum and smoking, but I think I recall that, in 19th Century India, Other Ranks received postage rate concessions, but that officers didn't. I wonder if some similar arrangement applied to non-commissioned officers here.

Castelrosso Postage due :

Here the humidity was so great,
blotches formed on the sheet, I would suggest
the paper was actually quite wet bordering
on soggy.
Probably in a Chinese stock book in a shed in mid winter.

Hi Rodney, I like your Hejaz postage due stamp - very nice!

I've not seen any of this set before except for black and white pictures in the catalogue.
