In 1993 Bangladesh issued a se-tenant pair of stamps highlighting the country's irrigation projects. This "Canal Digging" pair has a 'before and after' look; the first looks quite dry, and the second is well-irrigated. From Wikipedia, "Bangladesh's labour-intensive agriculture has achieved steady increases in food grain production despite the often unfavorable weather conditions. These include better flood control and irrigation, a generally more efficient use of fertilizer, and the establishment of better distribution..."   |

On September 30, 1994 Japan issued a set of 3 stamps publicizing the 12th Asian Games held in Hiroshima. It was the second time Hiroshima hosted the Games, the first time being in 1958. Athletes from 43 countries participated. This stamp (Scott #2426) depicts synchronized swimming.  |

Syrian Arab Republic 5th July 1973 Euphrates Dam Project   Located 40km upstream of the town of Raqqa, Syria, (the notorious location of the Daesh or ISIS HQ), the Euphrates - or Tabqa - Dam created the Assad Lake, the largest water reservoir in Syria. Diverting the Euphrates flow in order to create the lake caused a major rift with Iraq. |

The 1.05 Rs value of Brazil's 1996 "Centenary Olympics" set of 4, depicts a racing swimmer. The cancel is Votuporanga, Sao Paulo State, 29.8.96. Votuporanga means "soft breeze" in the native Tupi language. The city of 105,000 is in the southeast of the country.  |
