Yes, the French did those slogan cancels very nicely indeed.

Is it from Nice Aeroport...or is it just advertising the resort?

Good point Rod, thank you.

I jumped to the conclusion without thinking about it.

The CDS reads 'NICE R P' I believe but I do not know what the 'R P' means.

I've seen this Nice RP postmark before. When I tried to find out more I got as far as realising that Nice RP is a particular post office in Avenue Theirs in Nice. A colleague on another board then filled in the missing piece of the puzzle: in this case "RP" is short for "Recette Principale", i.e. the main post office in the city.

Excellent Nigel!
I'll file this one under a flag for "Recette Principale" in my database
very unusual but makes sense,
I recall some of the problems with GB postmarks of a similar ilk,
"BPO" etc.

Nice etiquette Phil...the future of philately methinks.

Could be a new addition to "ask phil"
their only RP is...

RP: 1: currency unit in Liechtenstein, Switzerland 2: rocket posts. 3. Scott Catalog number prefix for U.S. Revenue Private Die Canned Fruit. 4. international postal code for the Philippines.
Rp: Rupiah, currency unit in Indonesia.

Dwaran Shoubra is Cairo OK
but that looks like a "recommende" sp? label
I think this is slightly different from a registration label
but I am not sure.
I have a feeling this is for tracking?
I shall stand corrected.
