I have three stamps here. I hope I have the right time frame (post 1940), but I don't know, which is why I am asking for help. The center one I believe is Turkey, but I can't find it in the catalog. It is also interesting because the perfs actually follow the crooked line of the bottom of the stamp. That's odd! The man has what looks like the lions of Persia over his head and what is up with the Phoenician rowboat underneath. The third one, (actually the first one on the left) I just don't know. Can anyone help me put a catalog number or year or near value to these. Thanks in advance - Jeff

I have never seen the first one.
I believe the second stamp is a Turkish revenue from the 40s but I would rather you wait for Turkey experts to jump in.
The third stamp shows President Emile Eddé of Lebanon and was issued in 1937.

The first depicts the old Syrian "coat of arms" for lack of a better word, in the pre-United Arab Republic time frame. It is the Hawk of Qureish. I'm betting it is a revenue.

I don't know that you need to repost...I'd be shocked if the same people aren't looking at both.

Also, re-reading my post makes me think that I left the impression that your stamp was definitely pre-UAR...I don't know that it necessarily is, because I think Syria may have taken up the use of the old symbol again after the UAR.

Okay, I am still too new, did not realize alot of people were looking on several sites. I suppose I should have known better. I only quoted you for Syria and the Hawk of Qureish, so this time for what it's worth the two revenue stamps were reposted on the BOB group. thanks again cjd - Jeff

Its possible that someone would look one place and not another, but it seems that most participants reply all around the various subcategories, particularly in the worldwide section. Hope someone has a good answer...
