I believe this is Japan 115 (if not could someone help me correct this), but I am curious about the purple star strikes all over (front and back) this stamp. Anyone know what is going on. I would love to know. Thanks as always - Jeff

If it's violet, then there is a high chance
it has a fiscal origin.

I've checked all my collection,
post and revenue, and Japan cancellations
come in a vast array of colours and shapes,
but generally as a circle of varying diameters or
rounded corner oblongs.
Nothing exists of mine in anything like a star.

Keep it in the query tray for yourself.

It has a cancel on the lower right...I'm guessing someone was playing around with an inkpad and handstamp...especially if it is front and back. Can you use any magnification to verify that the star is on top of the cancel?

Cjd - good suggestion.I took the magnification to 4800 and it was still very difficult to tell. If I had to make a choice I would lean toward the purlple over the black, but certainly not sure. Thanks Jeff
