Welcome Stampman1970, if I haven't said so before.

I have an idea that it has something to do with the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Monkey, etc.

From Wikipedia.org
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_zodiac

Monkey (' 🐵) " 猴 (") (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Metal): Inventor, motivator, improviser, quick-witted, inquisitive, flexible, innovative, problem solver, self-assured, sociable, artistic, polite, dignified, competitive, objective, factual, intellectual. Can be egotistical, vain, arrogant, selfish, reckless, snobbish, deceptive, manipulative, cunning, jealous, suspicious.

Also, perhaps, a guess, is that it is considered good luck for some reason. Some things are done because they bring luck or are deemed to be lucky.

Another guess, maybe the current Republic of China (correct name? I do not collect China!) was started in a Monkey year or something.

I have a vague recollection of a story about a monkey and a king, or a monkey king or emperor. I may be confusing mythologies here also.

Further enlightenment:

The 1590 Chinese classic novel 'Journey to the West' has a character called the Monkey King or Sun Wukong.

Haha, Currently it will sell for 11000RMB.

Because it is the first stamp of the Chinese Zodiac series and excellent design and printing and the less amount.
