I will try and list here Hungarian (maybe Romanian too) perfins I identified. This one was easy - all should be that easy. M.Ö. - Mauthner Ödön K.u.K (Kaiserlich und Königlich) seed grain store, Budapest. The former store still stands, architectural monument, built around 1890, later made wider- Budapest, Rottenbiller F. str. 33. (Mauthner Ödön 1848-1928, agronomist & trader) All perfins welcome here

I just had the thought, hmmm, maybe he meant welcome here in his stamp collection, and not here in this thread on the forum. ?? Hope it is OK to post. Here is a Romanian B.N.R. perfin (please excuse the hinge still attached!) (remember to edit the first post and change the title to include Romanian also.) |

2. stamp (still on paper)- part of the so called `Harvester-Parlament` set. First issue of the set (same picture) 1916. The 50 korona value is part of a set issued in 1921-1923 (only `Parlament`). From 1921 on the `Harvester-Parlament` sets appear these triangle perfins- the 5th & 6th row of the sheets was perforated, so it is not a private perfin. Stamps with such perfins have about double CV (even so, CV is very low) 1. stamp perforation is D.C.Gy (see MaGYar - `gy` is a letter in Hungarian ABC- well, I don`t know how could I transcript how it sounds)- will try to get more info. |

I`ll surely change title, because I intend to post here some US and Australia perfins to get infos. B.N.R. is probably Banca Nationala Romana (National Bank of Romania), now I`m in a hurry (weekly program- tuesday evening dedicated playing soccer), but I`ll check to be sure. |

Wadmalatz, thank you!
For asking questions if may be a better choice to start a new topic just about the questions / country / area. If asked here maybe not everyone will look in this topic or category. |

Nice perfins here.
There are two trains of thought for the tirangular perfin.
Some sources feel that these were perfins used to punch remainder, or discontinued stamps that would no longer be available for regular mail and could be bought at a dicount later. Others say they were used for "Official" purposes. You could compare this with the O.H.M.S. perfins of Canada if the latter is the case. I personally temd to lean on the officila part.

Forgot to ask in my last posting if the identified perfin of Mauthner Odon is on piece or on cover? If on cover, this is really a nice 'ident' cover as proof.

Hi Again
I just found a note in one of my files about the triangle perfin. I was totally opposite about these. I said that they sold for a dicount. In fact, they sold for a 20% premium above face for a short time. It was an anti-speculation measure used for a while during the first Hungarian inflation. In 1924, it was decided that this process was pointless and they ceased with this procedure.

Yes Bujutsu, it`s on cover (made probably for customers?-it`s unused).Yes Puzzler, it`s Banca Nationala a Romaniei. On of the first Romanian perfins. Perfins were introduced in Romania from 01.01.1892. |

It is nice that the postmark fits the perfin. Thanks again, and for the Romanian also. It is nice to know what they are, even if the stamps are not so good of a shape or so expensive. The history aspect is fascinating. |

A common perfin (and surely is, if even I got about 8 of them). These are among my favourite Hungarian stamps (1874 & 1881 envelope, coloured number). A.G. 1831 Assicurazione Generali- Budapest. |

The three pin hole on Hungary stamps are called HARAMASLYUKKAL ,and are actively collected. I have a separate collection of them . The holes were put into part of the sheets of stamps sold at the post office to reduce speculation from buyers .People could buy unpunched stamps for a additional fee. |
