On June 5, 1964 Italy issued a set of two stamps commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Carabinieri, the national military police of Italy. On April 29, 2011, lithograving posted an image of the first stamp in this set in this thread (on page 2). Here is an image of the second stamp in the set, depicting a detail from a late 19th century painting entitled
La carica di Pastrengo (the charge of the Carabinieri during the battle of Pastrengo in 1848), by Italian artist Sebastiano De Albertis (1828-1897), printed by photogravure, Scott No. 892, plus an image of the relevant detail from the original work of art. Note: The inscription on the stamp,
Nei Secoli Fedele ("Faithful throughout the centuries"), is the motto of the Carabinieri.
