This was probably the most interesting thing I found in a lot of 500 assorted German stamps today. Most were BDR and DDR, many familiar, but this one I know absolutely nothing about:

The legend reads 'PRIVAT FRANKFURTER BRIEF.'

Presumably, this was a local issue. Does anyone know anything about it?

"Frankofurtia" is a personalised symbol of Frankfurt.

The lass in the middle of the stamp is Francofurtia.
Franziska Magdalene Romance Janauschek
(called "Fanny")
She was the model, she died in 1904 in new York.

My thanks to Mr. Peter Baumann.

For me it sounds more Czech or Slovak than Polish, but all are so similar... who knows :)
