Telephone Stamps List

I would be interested in a list of the existing stamps (between 1995 and 2011) that deal with the invention of the telephone and all that is related to it (inventors, technology, long distance, cell phone, calling cards, help lines etc) I used to be a ATA member (in the 1980s) and I have an old list of those stamps. I would also be interested in covers that carry phone messages. Thanks!

When I first saw your post, I was going to recommend ATA, but I see you're already familiar with them.

I haven't seen many topical lists being shared on SCF, but there are several topical collectors on SCF. I'm sure there is someone here that shares your interest in telephones.

If you haven't already, hop over to the Introduction forum and post an intro there also. It will give everyone a chance to "meet" you and learn more about your collecting interests.

Back to stamps, though, I always chuckle at this 1940 slogan cancel from Southern Rhodesia "It is Quicker to Telephone". Nice way to encourage people NOT to use the postal system.

I wonder if there have been any slogan cancellations touting the internet and email??

I don't know because I didn't do any research for the last 15 years but would be interested in those covers and postmarks. They would fit perfectly in my collection!...

I used to get made fun of all the time. While living in the states when I would say I need to "phone someone" poeple would say "You can't "phone" a person..." yes you can. LOL I phone people all day long. ha! Neat thread :)

I do not know of a telephone catalog,,,the American Topical Assn. might be able to help..recently I have seen stamps with telephones from Iceland Switzerland and Finland !
