A set of nine charity stamps for the German emergency services (1934) shows various professions. One of them is a businessman on the phone. Oddly enough this phone does not appear to have a cord, but then again, several other telephones on stamps in earlier posts don't either. |

This British international postcard rate stamp of private courier Universal Mail (U.K.) features a telephone box (U.K.), or phone booth (U.S.). There is a 5mm wide tagging stripe running vertically through the Union Jack. This is a so-called "hotel stamp". With postal competition now being allowed in most of Europe, both national postal administrations and private couriers are making contracts to sell stamps in hotels and museums in European tourist destinations. |
