This December 16, 1965 issue of Japan (Sc. #859) commemorates the 75th anniversary of telephone service in the nation. In the middle of the rotary dial, a 19th century switchboard with operators can be seen. First service was between Tokyo and Yokohama on December 16, 1890.   |

On September 6, 1988 Finland issued a booklet of six, 1.80 Mk. stamps of different designs to commemorate the 350th anniversary of posts and telecommunications in the country. One of the stamps (Facit #1064) depicts a skier using a contemporaneous cellular phone.  |
