Don't you hate it when you buy a large lot of old stamps and the best ones are all damaged? Take this for example:

It's not listed in my Gibbons Commonwealth catalogue, but I imagine these are not all that common and that - if it weren't damaged - it would be quite a find.

I wonder if anyone collects/catalogues these stamps?

To empathise, I have just broken down a collection
of nice Iranian stamps, all stuck in an album
with double sided tape...that was not enjoyable experience.

Well, it makes me feel better than this stamp would, if it weren't damaged, still only be worth 2.25 GBP!

Were you able to salvage any/many of the Iranian stamps, rod222?

Yes I salvaged them all,

(whispering behind palm of hand).....
...and all have "instant thins"
but don't tell anyone, they look OK from the front.

On reflection:
I think it wise in future to remove double
sided tape whilst stamps are dry, soaking had no advantage
just made it easier for the stamp paper to lift off.

Ah, Rodney, lagging behind the times again. SG 35 has gone up to £2.75 in 2011!

I hate it when stamps come into contact with sticky tape.

some sellers package their stamps so it's very hard to get them out of the pack without running the risk of one or two getting stuck to some tape.

Maybe Rod was quoting the price with double sided tape still attached; not that you would expect to find this stamp in an Iranian collection.

Nah, Rodney is just stuck in the past.

Besides, he collects Travancore That in itself means he has to be deeply suspect

Sigh.
It's always a test of one's mettle to deal with plebeians.

I love this place....

The words "mettle," "plebeians," and Latin all in within 7 minutes.

This is excellent.
