If I had to guess, stamp number 6 is a reprint of a charity stamp from France (a cinderella). It looks like it is from a group dedicated to pharmocological and hygenic studies/reform.

Well, that about wraps that bunch up. I kind of feel stupid because some of those I probably looked at the listing in the catalog and just passed them up.

ISimplyCollectEverything, smauggie and PostmasterGS - Thank you all for your assistance. I'm sure I'll have more though.

Hi,
I have a mystery stamp, and unfortunately can't get a photo out here (photobucket problems). I will do my best to describe it, and perhaps you all can give me a clue.

I think it is from a country that would be in the A section of Scotts International. I could be wrong about this.
Anyway, the stamp is a vertical regular (like US) size stamp, about 22 x 18 mm. It is in shades of blue, with an oval head shot of a distinguish gentleman - likely in late 1800 or early 1900 garb. It is a "20" denomination, and says "Postes" on top, with "20" on either side. On the bottom, circling the oval pic in dark blue is written "VINGT CENTs". Note the "s" is extremely small. Also, there is elaborate scroll work all around the oval pic. There is no other writing on the stamp.

I've actually gone thru the suspect countries in Big Blue, and have searched Linns Stamp Identifier. I suspect it is French or from that area, but could be wrong. The gentleman in the pic looks French/Spanish/Portuguise, something like Alexander Hamilton.

Your guidance would be especially appreciated!
Thank you,
Mobilman44

Hi Mobilman44,

Your stamp sounds like an Belgian stamp of the "Medallions" design of 1849-65 showing King Leopold.

OH MY GOSH !! You are right !! It is Belgian Stamp (Scotts) # 2 or 4 or 11 or 15 - which I'll figure out later on.

Nigelc, you are amazing!! Thank you so much.

The thing is, I just stripped 6 Scotts albums and am loading a really nice Scotts Part 1 and Part 2, and this is the only stamp I couldn't identify (so far).

I found this thread at a fortuitous time - came across several sets like these in my don't-really-collect pile. I can't find them in 2005 Scott. Can anyone help? Should I order my Tesla . . .?

Great service here, that I hope can answer what exactly these two revenue stamps are. I don't have much experience with revenues or the like, so the answer may be obvious. The first item appears to have a pencil cancellation. Thanks in advance!

OK, based on a little internet research, the second stamp appears to be R163.

Stray Feathers, those Indonesian stamps are not listed in earlier editions of the Scott catalog. They are known as the Vienna issues. My 2005 set is in storage, so I can't check for you.

But in the newer Scott catalogs, your stamps are listed under Indonesia:

35s = #43(17Aug1949)
20s = #63(wmk) or #67(unwmk), 1Dec1949
15s = #55(15Dec1948)
10s = #E1B (17Aug1949)

None of them are particularly valuable. You will need to find another source of funding for your Tesla.

knuppster59,

the 2c revenue appears to be #R152(1875) in the Scott catalog. You will need to do the final paper/wmk ID.

Stray Feathers, those Indonesian stamps where issued in 1949
by the Revolutionary Government fighting to free the country
from centuries of Dutch Colonial rule.
These "Vienna" issues are listed in some catalogues but not
Scott.

Here are a couple of links you might look at.
