Can anyone tell me if this "stamp" is worth restoring or should I just dispose of it? I am not a collector and this item is one of thousands of stamps that came to me as of part of an international storage shipment. Thanks, stampcamp PS Am I posting this in the right place?

This may certainly be interesting for a Japanese collector, the stamps seem part of a sheet of a Savings Voucher? Can we possible see the writing at the top of the paper? Please do not destroy it, it may give a collector some joy to own it.
It would have been nice to have "Japan imperf" or something like that in the thread topic so we can search for it years hence.
Welcome aboard SCF, hope you enjoy your stay.

Thanks Rod222, I barely know how to navigate in a forum much less know where to post things here or how to classify them....LOL The date is 22.4.28 and the edge of the stamps are exactly as the stamps shown in the center of the photo. No border or additional information shown. I hope you will appreciate the frustration of one who has never collected stamps or coins suddenly in the position of trying to make a rational decision on their disposition. My hat is off to all of you who are caught up in stamp and coin collecting. I am just looking to have a clear conscience before I pack up the lot and just toss it. Patience direction and replies are really appreciated and I thank you again. Regards, stampcamp |

Well, I mucked that up admittedly I was a bit lax, I took it to be either 1939 or 1953 and I took the Japanese "Showa" era. How did you get 1946 |

Quote: I am just looking to have a clear conscience before I pack up the lot and just toss it. Eeek! please, No. Not sure how you would get that to a stamp collector near you? If that is all you have, there would be collectors here who would take it, just bung it in an envelope If you have a collection of stamps, call your local dealer and get an appraisal. I am impressed you had the prescence of mind to enquire first |

You have no idea of the chord of humor you have struck here! I am in Nevada. People here still think the mail is delivered by Pony Express! From time to time a traveling band of "Stamp Tramps" make their way here for shows held at local casinos. Yes, I have hauled my rolling suitcase to a few shows but I was forewarned to attend only to gather information, not to sell or accept any offers.I had an offer of USD $40.00 for the lot! Dare I say I may have over 5000 stamps, some from places I've never heard of, and I have travelled extensively. Most are pre-1970; some from the early 1900s. Some in books, loose, licked, unlicked, attached, unattached, jumbled together in a mountain of madness, including postcards, not to mention the coins. (I bet my terminology is making you cringe). I doubt there is not a country not represented. Mobility is an issue for me so I thought it best to try to at least see what I could do online. Please don't peak my interests because this fascinating hobby would only add to my feeble mind which is already overloaded with the curse of being an aging and very frustrated entrepreneur whose mental processes are waning under the strain of having an idea for a new product or invention daily, when "she" is not teaching an educational program for foreign adults as a source of financial frustration for survival. But something has got to give with all of this and I must find a resolution to this dilemma ASAP. I will keep responding as long as you do. But it is 2:05 AM here and I think I must call it a night. Stamps are safely tucked in a box under my bed. Perhaps the universal nature of their existence will provide me with some startling revelation in the morning! Till next time, stampcamp |

Rod, I'm pretty certain the CDS used Showa years. I'm just not sure whether the '22' or the '28' is the year and the other the day of the month. That's why it should be 1947 or 1953. How did you get '1946'? |

Hmmm, ¥2 would have been a reasonable sum in 1895; ¥12 would have been quite a nice sum. I like 1947 or 1953 better. |
