Nah, looking at the bits of the word 'GOLD' behind the cancel it makes the cancel word OFFICE come together more and more. I am going with OFFICE now.

If the lower word is Medina Elmina then the first part of that name could be Fort so FORT or FT. ELMINA.

I have just done what I should have done at the start... gone to Robson Lowe!

The cancel was used at Elmina 1876-86, "fairly common in black but rare in red".
