I don't have my Scott #4 here at work with me. Does anyone know if this was issued imperf or is it a cut square from an envelope. Can someone ID and tell me to take it straight to the bank! Thanks as always - Jeff

The stamp has the great classical look. I am no expert on Portugal, but it seems to be Scott #24 issued around 1866 as imperf, valued in 2008 at $70. There is a note that was it was reprinted in 1886 and 1905 and value such at $100. It does not say whether that is for mint or used.

As far as I know, in general, these Portuguese reprints were not for postage. The prices for reprints cited in Scott are for unused reprints.

For this King Liuz issue, the reprints were produced both perforated and imperforate.

Just thinking aloud,
early Portugal had a thin barred killer cancel with
a numeral in the centre.
Silent thick barred numeral may be a device to invalidate
"remainders" (eg Labuan)
Having thought that, I do have an example of the 120r with thick bars
but it looks like it still has the numeral centre.
Yours seems to be a silent killer.

If I understood everything you said, your evaluation was the mine would have been a remainder. Yes?
