Hi Turtle, thanks for posting this beautiful seal from "The Kaitsusha, Ltd." from Kobe, Japan.

Went through some search in Web, and have found several traces of this company, which seems to have existed in Kobe in the beginning of 20th century. This cover, adopted from the web page of japanese Military Post, is very likely to be the company's envelope. It bears a 20 Sen definitive stamp issued Feb 1st, 1940, and is cancelled at Kobe on May 1940 (Showa 15).

The address, Edomati (Edo-machi) is in the centre of Kobe city and was one of the street of Kobe foreign settlement during Meiji period. After the return of the foreign settlement in 1899, the street continued its development as consulate centre of various countries as well as merchandise centre.

There also is a record of export correspondences between the company and a (possibly) Hungarian company called Chinois Pharmaceutical and Chemical Products Factory Corp in the Far East/National Archives of Hungary section in the book "Guides to the Sources for the History of the Nations".

The date of these correspondences (1937-1941) matches the datestamp on the envelope above, so we may well conclude that your beautiful seal was used at the Kaiseisha Ltd, Kobe, Japan with its main office located at 100 Edomachi, Kobe, during late 1930s and 1940s.

Hope this helps.

- Hironobu

I have to pull it from my collection and scan it. Should be a little later today. I also have pairs and a block of 5. I know, a five.

It was part of an estate I bought. I had scanned one of the singles and had it on my computer. I don't collect Cinderellas at all, I just keep a few that I find interesting (as with this it's more of a historical connection to stamp collecting in general)

As I was digging through everything I did find a number of blocks of Spanish and other Cinderellas. I don't know if anyone here collects them or not.

This is a One Dollar Savings Stamp. I have no idea when or where it may have been issued. Anyone have additional information on this issue they can share?
