It's a shame that so many stamps were destroyed to create the artwork. I like what he is able to create but I would have preferred that he solicited faulty stamps from collectors.

I've been trying to think of artistic ways to use my duplicates. This is great! Another example of intersting stamp artwork I have found- Underhttp://www.mollyrausch.com/pages.ph...avGallID=153

jhlovell- which ones do you need? I have a few! Made 2 pretty pages out of them myself, not including the several already assembled before I owned them :)

On the site you can click on the image for a zoomed-in view of how he used the stamp's colours and also it seems, the cancels to create the work. And to see which stamps you are missing! Argh, I just noticed he cut stamps to get the shadings in his picture correct.

Bad artist, baaaad!

Here is an image of an item that sold on ebay a month ago for 385 pounds. Someone in the 1840s thought it would be a good idea to cover this box with over 200 stamps including penny blacks and reds. I bet the descendants of the artist wish he hadn't used penny blacks on the box but instead started a stamp collection with them.

I think the design is supposed to be representative
of the Tudor Rose.

Stamps have been used for years for such art...here's an old-timer suggesting they used 10,000+ stamps to cover a 1940's era car:

...and here's a more recent VW Bug using 50,350 stamps.

Interesting that the smaller VW Bug takes 5 times the number of stamps compared to the older car to accomplish a similar result.
