Lux, at the stamp club I am attending there are one that is in my age group, the rest is older collectors. So I probably stand out a bit. But that isnt't a problem at all, I feel right at home there.

It is also a great opportunity to learn more about stamps. We often have a small lecture, the last if was Geir Sřr Reime (or something like that, he write amongst other for Stanley Gibbons) which had a lecture about writing for philatelic magazines. Very interesting.

You can also ask the elder collectors for advice, in my experience they are always happy about giving some tips to a younger collector. And its also a good place to find cheap stamps, so no reason to stay at home.

lux1288, it has been my experience that all members of our stamp club are delighted when young people join the association. Young people are the lifeblood of the hobby. Our club has several members in their eighties who are most welcoming to younger collectors and are mentors to those looking to expand their knowledge. Don't be shy about joining your local club. Remember you all have something in common - a love of stamps.

Hey Lux, I'll be attending my second stamp club meeting this week, and looking forward to it. My wife kids me about it but is really happy that I'm getting out of the house. I've started working from home the last few weeks and spend a lot of time here alone, just me and the dog. And yes it's mostly older people, but they seemed to be happy that I had come. Following the summer break I'll take out full membership.

Stamp club meetings are great! Unfortunately the one in my town has disbanded. So I trade with and buy from internet contacts. Scans just do not come close to being able to hold a stamp up to the light to check it out. Get to club meetings as often as you can!

Yobo! what a great story.
You have a great attitude.
Learn well, in a blink, you will be teaching the younger folk.
