I've been through this thread 3 times, and still can't believe this little 1955 Norwegian didn't make and appearance. Time to correct that!

Here is an image of a stamp depicting soldiers maintaining (rather precariously!) telegraph lines, designed by Belgian artist Jean Van Noten (1903-1982), printed by photogravure (Joh. Enschedé), and issued by Congo (Democratic Republic) on November 17, 1965 as one of a set of six stamps publicizing the "Army Serving the Country," Scott No. 556. Bonus: National coat of arms.

May 17 is World Telecommunications and Information Society Day!

Here is an image of an engraved stamp depicting an early telegraph operator and a radio communications mast, designed by Tunisian artist Hatem El Mekki (1918-2003), and issued by Tunisia on May 15, 1965 to commemorate the centenary of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Scott No. 447.

"Africa" and telecommunications symbols, designed and engraved by French artist Claude Hertenberger (1912-2002), and issued for use in French West Africa on March 15, 1958 for Stamp Day, Scott No. 76.

The ITU Centenary in 1965 was commemorated by many countries, a basic common design almost always being used, as has been seen above. Here are some from the Middle East and Eastern Med.:
