Is this a precancel, overprint, or fancy cancel?
What kind of stamp is this?
Is it rare?
What is it worth?

Hi boygenious39, welcome!

Those are from China (not sure which section, if any), the fellow on the stamp is Sun Yat Sen. He is on a few of the China stamps. The cancel looks like at is written in Chinese ideographs or characters with possible English along the bottom row if my eyes don't deceive.

Not a fancy cancel, those are usually made by older carved cork devices.

Not sure on rarity or catalogue value.

Which part of the world do you live in? I ask to make it easier for others to answer as there are many currencies worldwide and also catalogues with different prices and numbering systems.

The pair of them together like that is very eye-catching and I would keep them together like they are.

Hopefully someone will be along that has a catalog on China and knowledge more than I.

Boygenius39, Puzzler gave us enough info that I opened my 2010 Scott catalogue and for the first time looked at the China pages. I think what you have is Scott # 505 and its used value is $0.30 each. I also think that it is a cancel on the face of your stamps.
