The 4-peseta was issued July 15, 1975, all by itself.

Just to clarify my post, the 7-, 12- and 20-peseta stamps were issued December 4, 1974, so several months before the 4p. Looks like some albums might treat all four of them together?

not plural

My only guess is that the guy who created the design used the 1 peseta stamp as a guide.

It is not an error Rod. Spain started using PTA on all it's stamps after 1975, as seen in illustrations in my Scott catalogue.

So in other words, they made a mistake with the 4 Peseta stamp and then just stuck with it. "No, that was entirely according to plan, and really we just like it better that way."

It seems that over half the stamps I used to get in that orange/red bag-o-stamps from Woolworth's in the late sixties were of this dude

Yes, I remember that too, and the most common I found was the 1 pta orange. I still have my original collection with about 20 or so different used. I should try and complete it.
