I was going to skip over these two and just say "I don't know" when I caught myself and remembered that I have the best resource right here. So I thought I would ask. There is only one set that lists these Brazil stamps in Centavos and Cruzeiros and the 50cent should be salmon but these two are certainly different shades. Is that all it is or am I missing something. I have marked them both as Scott 661A? Any help? - Thanks as always - Jeff

Jeff,
I'm just getting my feet wet in Brazil but maybe I can add a piece to the puzzle.
I have a Brazilian catalog, RHM. It lists this stamp as a 467:

Pardon the crappy scan but it's the best I can get..

My dictionary translates "tijolo" as "brick." In my mental color chart that would be close to your right stamp. I would call your stamp on the left "salmon." I'm lousy with colors.

I don't see any listing of different color variations but my Portuguese is so poor I very well could have missed it.

RHM says the stamp was issued from 1946 to 1953 (scott says 1947 to 1954) so I wouldn't be surprised if color variations exist.

I hope someone else can add additional information or correct me.

Dan

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.

Jeff,
Sorry for any confusion. The Scott number is what you initially said, 661A. The RHM catalog number is 467.
What confuses me is that Scott lists the color as "salmon" and RHM lists it as "brick."
It seems to me you have one of each!
