A recent acquisition. Not in any particular order.
Comments most welcomed.

Also ended up with this consular stamp. That's a box lot for you, never know what may show up. Any value to it? Sure is pretty.

Smauggie, you have some nice classic GB stamps with some interesting cancels. I have recently started collecting GB classic cancels and find it enjoyable pursuit. I'm sure you will enjoy these Queen Victoria and KEVII stamps.

Regarding value of this acquisition, I have no idea about the consular stamp but the others are valued from a few dollars to around $50.

Thanks, mhc99. I am curious if anyone thinks that the first orange 4d KEVII might have an RPO cancel ("London & R . . .").

That would be my guess.

Maybe someone has a list?

Nice selection...

I still can't quite make out the parcel cancel on that block of half-penny greens.

Looking at it in person, can you piece enough of them together to make out "Reading"?

You are a genius, cjd.
It is Reading. I guess if I had a better mental inventory of the towns in GB I might be better at this. I suppose that means I will just have to get more stamps to practice with.

There is another parcel cancel on a half penny KEVII (the first one in the top row). I can't figure that one out either.

Envy - desire - wishful thinking - want - too nice for anyone but me to have - very cool looking and desirable - did I mention envy? How about those for comments, Tony :-D

I can appreciate those comments, Jeff. I picked up a box lot that contained these (and the other stamps in my recent threads). The owner needed to sell fast, so the dealer threw together some box lots. It has been loads of fun.

__ __ __ K H A M ? Probably seven letters. Must be a bunch of possibilities.

I don't recall seeing parcel cancels from really tiny towns...
does that mean that they were only used in larger post offices,
or that they're just uncommon, and I haven't seen them?

smauggie, if you want to know possible GB Victorian town names when the name is only partially known, the following website will help you.

I did a partial search on "kham" and got the following results:

One would therefore suggest it be Oakham,
the diameter of the hammer would suggest a 6 letter,
or at best 7 letter name.

Thank you gentlemen. Oakham seems most likely.

Question: Probably bordering on stupid . . . why does the red three pence QV (bottom row, 3rd from left) have such a long left-hand border?
I have seen these before and wondered.
If the long edge was straight I would think that it was the edge of a sheet.

smauggie, what you have in the red three pense QV stamp is a wing margin. These are commonly found on early stamps that were not perforated at side of the sheet leaving one side imperf.

Much appreciated mhc99. Wing margin, eh? I like it.

Let me see if I get this right . . .
So the sheets of 240 were split into smaller panes of 20.
The panes were not simply cut apart, but perfed between for separation.

It does however have a tear and some serious creases in the wing margin.
Still it will hold pride of place in my album.
I am not likely to purchase any others unless accidentally as I have here.
