Portugal first issued its set of 4 dinosaur-themed, computer-vended stamps on 9 November, 1999. They were denominated in escudos. Then , on February 21 of 2000, the computers/machines were reset and the stamps were issued with denominations in both escudos and euros, as is the stamp below. Finally, in January of 2002 the machines were updated again and the stamps were valued in euros only.
This procedure was very much like Spain's transition from peseta to euro currency with their stamp machines.
