I have perused the Stanley Gibbons website including their extensive inventory of Great Britain and commonwealth stamps.

I can imagine that they would take the effort to stock some of the most rare and unique items for the highly specialized Great Britain and Commonwealth collector.

Do you, though shop there for more common stamps? It would seem they charge catalog prices for their items.

Edit - Oog, I cannot believe I typoed by (buy).

They do indeed charge catalogue prices. I once sat there at the famous 'half-circle' table and flipped through a few stockbooks !
They do have plies of old album pages but even they are expensive compared to other outlets.
But they do stock a lot of superb investment-quality material and this is where they lead the field.

When it comes to accessories, they are good. Special deals are always being offered on pages, albums and catalogues. I always pick up something on my trips back home.

I am not too keen on the new shop layout though. It seems so much more 'snobbish' than it once did. I preferred the old style and told them so on my visit last May. I had the feeling I wasn't the only one of the same opinion !

Sadly, they now only the charge catalogue price when the price is at least £1, otherwise they charge £1 as a minimum price.

I sure hope they don't change their catalogues' editorial policy to a £1 minimum value.

I buy from Gibbons' specialist lists every so often, when they have something interesting. It does mean paying full catalogue price usually, but for Indian States rarities, the catalogue price tends to be academic anyway. They rarely have bargains on offer, but the prices tend to be about right, for the stuff I'm after.
