The link to Audubon's complete work is the most precious thing I have found on this site!! BRAVO to those who put that together and for including it here.

If anyone is interested, I recommend his biography entitled "John James Audubon: the Making of an American" by Richard Rhodes. He truly lived a life beyond belief. This work, Birds of America, is monumental - I do not believe anyone could accomplish the same thing in modern times.

Am I allowed to post these here? These are fake stamps that were printed in the Soviet Union by members of the Haitian government in 1975. The stamps were printed entirely without the knowledge of the Haitian postal authorities with the intention of selling them to American collectors. It caused a huge scandal at the time. The group responsible forged a signature of Haitian Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Henri Bayard in order to "authenticate" the fake stamps. Of course, all of the stamps were made to put money in the pockets of the 8 people who made them.

The full story of the Haiti Audubon stamp scandal can be found here: http://faculty.webster.edu/corbetre.../scandal.htm

Canada issued a few JJ Audubon booklet panes. These 2 are from 2003 and 2004 paying the 60 cent (then 65 cent) postage rate for a letter to the USA.
