They are just marks & don't reflect the size of city stations. Unfortunately, there is no serious studies done about those marks, & even there is no a statistical breakdown for them! Cheers |

bfranton, as usual, you are the Links MASTER! Actually, Panayotis was a fellow philatelist but was not specializing in Egypt ( below link): http://www.cangelaris.com/exegy.htmI remember once that I tried SO hard to pursuit him to sell ŁE1 King Fuad 1st Issue Bi-color Composite Essays but totally refused. I almost travel to Greece just to convince him! Cheers |

A cover from Cairo in Egypt, 1944 I purchased recently. Cover is opened cleanly along the bottom edge and is empty of contents. The inner side of the envelope is patterned in a moire black and white pattern of wavey grid lines of varying shades of black used most likely as an anti-copying device, similar to what we use now but more elaborate. At the top inside (held up to a light) is a design within a circle and scroll-work with the English words Registered Trade Mark that carries over from the front inside to the back flap inside so when the flap was opened to place contents in the envelope the trademark symbol and wording could be read properly. I may yet find myself slicing the cover up the sides so I can get at this design and see it plainly. The temptation could be too much. I was attracted to the hexagonal censor marking but the whole cover is interesting to me also. |

The reason the Egyptians were so advanced, in my opinion, is because they didnt worry about what other people thought because they WERE the only people. If we were to stop fighting each other can you imagine what the world would be like? |
