The Law of 1734
October 6, 1984
The stamp commemorates the Swedish Law of 1734 (Civil Code of 1734) which was applied to Finland until 1894. The law covered marriage, parents, inheritance, land, building, commerce, crimes, judicial procedure, and execution of judgments.

Elf reading Santa's book by candlelight, designed by Pekka Vuori (1935- ), printed by photogravure, and issued by Finland on October 26, 2001 as on of a set of two Christmas stamps, Scott No. 1160, Facit No. 1588.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting books, featuring a volume of Virgil's Aeneid, designed and engraved by French artist Claude Haley (1923-1988), and issued by Monaco on September 30, 1982 to publicize the Congress of the International Association of Bibliophiles, Scott No. 1343.
