Stefan ®eromski (1864-1925)



Stefan Żeromski was one of most famous Polish novelist and dramatist, leading polish neoromantic.
On FDC cover is bookcase full of books of his works, among them:
the short-story Echa le¶ne (Forest Echoes), lyrical novel Wierna rzeka (The Faithful River),
his first novel Syzyfowe prace (Labors of Sisyphus), novel Przedwio¶nie (The Spring to Come),.....

The Welsh Bible



William Morgan (1545-1604) the Bishop of Llandaff and of St Asaph is the translator of the first version of the whole Bible into Welsh in 1588.
William Salesbury (c.1520-c.1584) was the leading Welsh scholar of the Renaissance and the principal translator of the 1567 Welsh New Testament.
Richard Davies (c.1505-1581) was a Welsh bishop and scholar was a motivator and part translator of the New Testament into the Welsh language 1567.
Richard Parry (1560#8211;1623) was a bishop of St. Asaph and editor of thje revised version of the Welsh language Bible 1620.

Karl Marx (1818-1883)



Karl Marx was a German philosopher, economist, sociologist and revolutionary socialist.
He published numerous books, one of the most notable is Das Kapital (1867#8211;1894).
The book is a critical analysis of political economy, intended to reveal the economic laws of the capitalist mode of production.

Vizsoly Bible - Vizsoly Bible



Károli Bible was the first Bible printed in the Hungarian language in 1590. It was translated by pastor Gaspar Karoli (1529-1591) the most known and famous Hungarian Calvinist.

Silvano Arieti (1914-1981)



Silvano Arieti was a psychiatrist regarded as one of the world#8217;s foremost authorities on schizophrenia.
His book Interpretation of Schizophrenia won the 1975 National Book Award in Science.

The Schocken Bible



The Schocken Bible was writen in southern Germany around 1290.
It comprises 131 sheets of very thin fine quality parchment.
On sheet is the frontispiece of bible an illuminated page decorated with 46 medallions,
each containing miniature illustrations of stories from the Bible.

Book of Kells



Book of Kells is illuminated manuscript version of the four Gospels from late 9th century.
It was written probably at the Irish monastery on the Scottish island of Iona
and is the most extravagant and complex of the Insular Gospel books.

Primoľ Trubar (1508-1586)

Primoľ Trubar was the Protestant reformer, most known as the author of the first Slovene language printed book.
He was a Protestant preacher in Germany for some years, where he wrote in 1550 the first two books in Slovene language,
Catechismus and Abecedarium, which were then printed that year.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a statute book, combined engraved and lithography, and issued by Spain on October 27, 1979 as one of a set of two stamps commemorating the Catalonian and Basque autonomy statute, Scott No. 2175.
