I was taking a close look at the German 2003 stamp for the Year of the Bible (Deutschland 2003 Jahr der Bibel) to see if I could work out which book of the Bible was shown. I did not expect to be able to as I do not read German. I was startled to find that I could read some of the text in English! I have deciphered 'Pilate asked him' and 'King of the Jews' amongst other short phrases suggesting it may be Mark 15 (but I would need to work out more and find the correct translation to be sure). Any comments or ideas on why an English bible? I have just found that the text shows the beginning of Luke 23 the New American Bible (NAB) translation. This is copyrighted 1970 (as the Lectionary)i.e. not the NASB or NABRE versions. I do not have a scanner to show an image but primoz posted it here https://goscf.com/t/14839&whichpage=4#300161 |
