Latvia Beginning of Printing Works in the Territory of Latvia - 425 Years October 22, 2013 Book printing in Riga began in 1588, when Dutchman Niclas Mollyn came to Riga to established the first printing and publishing company in the territory of Latvia. Two works were printed already in the first year of operation, one of which – the Carmen Gratulatorium of Riga resident Anselms Bocija – has survived to the present day. Mollyn printed more than 180 books in Riga, which were published mainly in German and Latin. Three books were printed in Latvian, among them the handbook of the Lutheran Church.  |

Montenegro 125th Anniversary of the Library in Danilovgrad November 17, 2014 The town of Danilovgrad is located in the fertile valley of the Zeta River. It was founded with the purpose of being the capital of Montenegro. Foundations for this planned city were first laid by King Nikola I in 1870.  |
