OK - this is strictly in the eye of the beholder, but what countries have had the best stamps? I mean looking at their stamps as an entire body of work which have had the most memorable, creative, or artistic stamps over the years.

My favorites are SWITZERLAND, MONACO AND CANADA (subject to change of course). What are yours?

Easy question, early U.S. and expo cancels no doubt. But beware, there are those who will suggest Canada, Germany or even stamps with kangaroos or Kings. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM (I believe may be mentally unbalanced). Trust me.
EDIT: Ask a thousand collectors and get a thousand answers.

Rod222 is completely off course, again, I'm afraid. The answer is, of course, Bhor

The complete country - although there is some dispute over whether the stamp in the bottom line was ever properly issued ...

You could also make a pretty strong argument in favour of Jammu & Kashmir

Mine would have to be early British Commonweath, I really enjoy looking at the art work and the detail involved.

Hi

Some will say I am prejudiced (no comment Rodney) but the stamps of Colombia.

A lot of the stamps in the 50's were printed by Carvajal and the printing quality was excellent. Prior to Carvajal stamps were engraved by the American and Colombian Banknote Companies. Modern Colombian stamps are printed by Thomas Greg & Sons de Colombia SA andother printers. The Thomas Greg printing quality is excellent but I don't think it compares with Carvajal.

Oooo, I like this topic.

Tony wins, of course, with the Jammu and Kashmir stamps. Simply beautiful.

I must put a vote in for St Pierre and Miquelon (French colony and now territory), Sweden, the new Czech Republic, oh, and of course good day and welcome to Canada stamps, ay? (eh?)

I'd recommend 'Australian Antarctic Territories' to young or new collectors. Every stamp issued is readily available, some scarcer, but not costing an Arm and a Leg.

As someone who has just acquired three classic Great Britain stamps by accident while on vacation I must say that there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the classic stamps of that country.

Classic Panama stamps are where it's at, though. There are no watermark, paper or die complications. Only beautiful stamps in bright, vivid colors.

Noooo! Looking at Queen Victoria and KGV makes you mentally unstable! A decade from now, they'll be gushing over stamps featuring Margaret Thatcher! Don't do it!

Why Russ, do I detect a sense of humor? Perhaps it has something to do with the alignment of the planets?

Scouter,

As the only objective member of this thread, I can definitively state that early German states are the most interesting, well designed, and most worthy of collecting of all the options out there!
