Absolutely needs a certificate from one of the major expertizing groups; the odds of it being genuine are very small.

IMO, more than likely a fake.

I reoriented the image and cropped it with vertical lines which suggests to me that it was poorly cut:

wt1....the stamp is shown from a photo.
the dimensions are skewed by height and width
because the item is not flat (photoed from exactly on top)

Thanks for clarifying.

Even if the stamp image is skewed and therefore not taken into account, the Scott catalog warns of many fake efforts of trying to pass off some of these stamps as real coils. If it were found to be genuine it would command a catalog value of more than six figures, so the chances of it being genuine are still quite remote.

Thank you everyone for your responses. It needs to be certified. And is not yet. The mark of 1908 is interesting to me . Also what are some test they use to determine genuine ?

wt1....yes, I agree with your statement.

Fireman451.....
Going from memory....I this this issue will have a HORIZONTAL watermark.
Where as a sheet stamp will have a vertical watermark.
