I came across another small set of US perfins applied to Scott #900 and #901 (1940). Does anyone recognize any of the initials to help identify who the companies were that used these?

Without any reference guide, I can only guess that the first one (AGR) = Dept. of Agriculture (?); the sixth one "NY" with a large "L" in the middle (NYL) = New York Life Insurance (?). The others I have no clue about.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Wow! Great information! I had no idea I would get a response for everyone of the perfins I posted. Ususally I can track 2 or 3 down, but not all of them. I'm impressed.

...and let me not forget to say a big THANK YOU!

wt1, good job on getting all of those perfins identified. Since the Grand Trunk Railway was mentioned, I thought that I'd post another Joseph Kidder cover in my thread Corner Csrds..

This one has no user identified in the UK perfin catalog & I have a fairly current version of the catalog.

Thanks Chasa, no identified Postmark either :)
Had this been an aniline issue, I would have had a doozy, +/- $300
Unfortunately GB Perfin society have no ID option, you have to join first.
Your time appreciated.

I have little to no experience with UK perfins, but when I searched for the initials I found that there was a telegraph stamp perfin with "Mc I" (no P above it) that was connected with Burns & McIver, a Liverpool steamship company back in the day.

It makes me wonder if the perfin in question could be derived from it. Just a theory. Although there's probably no way to tell for sure, it may make for some interesting research.

I think the GB society would say the same thing as their book says - known to exist but user unknown. That does not necessarily mean it is scarce - could be just a fluke that no cover has surfaced.

I can tell you, the stamp was posted from this building.

It will be very familiar with Philatelists, on a visual basis, all the icons are there, Queen Victoria, the Seahorses.................
