I've been sorting/placing my early 20th century Canada stamps and have been pleasantly surprised and even shocked at times by the catalogue values for mint, never hinged items.

As an example, the Scott #158, 50c "Bluenose" stamp is $450 in mint, never hinged and the #159, $1 Parliament stamp is $600 in mint, never hinged. The #203 I just purchased is $80 in MNH.

These, and others catalogue for much, much more than comparable US stamps from that era. The question is 'why'? Is it high demand? Low distribution? Something else?

Just wondering ...

Brian
