Herd Of Cattle? Bulls, Cows And Calves On Stamps

Just a curiosity :

"Western cattle in a storm" is really a Scottish herd, in a snowstorm.

I've often heard it referred to as having been selected as America's most beautiful stamp.

I'm not sure when that poll was taken and I don't really agree, but it would certainly be in my Top 10 list.

if you read the wiki link,
it came in second, after the "bluenose".

Although considered to be poorly drafted
by some experts regarding the size of the vignette,
the "blackjack" is possibly my favourite US issue,
at least in my top 10.

Part of Canada's 1942-43 War issue, I always found this pastoral image of cows under trees an odd choice compared to the tanks and guns and ships and our King in military uniform that accompanied it.
But then I noticed the map of Italy on the second cow from the left, and it became clear. These were not just cows, but WarCows!
Obviously integral in the planning of the European invasion by Allied forces.

Icelandic pictures perhaps are something to do with mythology or Icelandic skalds or bards perhaps? Look like rock carvings somewhat.
