If you have the SG# for a stamp and want to know the current SG catalogue price, you can look it up here. It lists the value, mint & used, with a short description of the stamp. No image with this free service.

I use this all the time. It's great for a free service. You can pay 50 pounds and join up. Then you get pictures as well. Too much for me though.

What magazines or books are there? that you can buy in Australia?

I think my dad has on in his stamp collection, I might have a read of that...

from about the 80s though

Go to the post office and grab a Stamp Bulletin, it's free. Then you can sign up and they will mail you a free copy every 3 months. It will keep you up to date with the latest releases.
